Peer Relations

Toy cars

We have studied peer relations in terms of sociometric standing, social behaviour with peers and as the child’s own experiences. We have used longitudinal and concurrent designs.

We have explored peer relations as an outcome of early temperament and attachment. We have also studied peer relations as an outcome for children with early behaviour problems, peer relations as a moderator of the development of early behaviour problems and peer relations in relation to ADHD-behavior and executive functions. Effects of gender in conjunction with problems have been a focus in some of this work.

Current interests are mechanisms in peer liking and dislike, associated characteristics and predictors of loneliness and low peer acceptance, and further exploration of relations between ADHD-symptoms, peer relations and other aspects of adaptation.
